WHO WE ARE
Central Pacific Apparel is an American made clothing project started in Redding California. Our goal is to design and manufacture small-batch garments in our home town. We believe it’s important to be connected to the people and places where goods are being made. Utilizing local talent and sourcing material as closely as we can, we are striving for excellence in small town America.
We take our name from the Central Pacific railway company. Their contributions to the transcontinental railroad project helped to unite the country literally and figuratively after the civil war. When the project was finished, they drove a ceremonial golden spike at the meeting of the east and west railways. As an homage, we will also be adorning our end-goal projects with golden spikes. Products made in our home town will be labeled with gold spikes, while products manufactured off site will have black spikes.
Despite the unique challenges 2020 provided, we launched our first small batch garment in the form of our raw denim jacket. Made entirely in Redding from start to finish, we realized pretty quickly how important the right equipment is when working with heavier weight denim. As we begin our next phase our denim manufacturing has been moved to LA as we work on designs more suited to our capacity up north.
For 2021 we are working on three new designs including a chore coat, a lightweight rain layer, and a heavily lined ranch style jacket. We are also opening up for wholesale and custom orders. As we continue to learn and grow we are continuing our search for new materials both imported and close to home with an emphasis on sustainability and technical capabilities.
